Former Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas is in line for a shock move to La Liga giants Sevilla upon the expiration of his deal at FC Utrecht this summer.
The stopper was nothing but a flop in Glasow. Signed for five million euros (Transfermarkt) ahead of the fabled ten-in-a-row campaign, the Greek never lived up to expectations.

He was loaned to Utrecht in 2022 before signing for the club permanently last summer. In the Netherlands, the 29-year-old seems to have thrived but he could soon be on the move to Spain.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla is on the lookout for a ‘keeper to compete with current first-choice Orjan Nyland. Barkas is said to have fallen within their parameters and could make an ‘important leap’ in his career this summer.
The former Celt would join the seven-time winners of the Europa League on a free transfer and look to push to become a starting goalkeeper in one of Europe’s top five leagues, a happening that would have shocked Celtic fans a few years ago.
