Recent excitement among Celtic supporters about the potential signing of Dominik Livakovic has been dampened following new information.
Earlier today, speculation was rife about the Fenerbahce goalkeeper making a move to Celtic, based on reports from Turkish media. However, a more credible source has now dismissed these claims.
Izak Ante Sucic, a more reputable journalist, has stated unequivocally that Livakovic is not on his way to Celtic. In a firm rebuttal, Sucic wrote: “Dominik Livakovic won’t join @CelticFC. Not a single word was exchanged between Dominik, his team and @Fenerbahce on that matter. Rumors from Turkey and Scotland were completely false. Everything was confirmed by his public relations agent Stipo Dubravac.”

This update puts an end to the swirling rumours and the hopes of fans eager to see the Croatian international in Celtic colours. The initial report had suggested that Celtic’s bid for the goalkeeper had been accepted, potentially solving a key issue following Joe Hart’s retirement. However, it appears that there was no truth to these claims.
As always, it’s essential to approach transfer rumours with caution. While the prospect of signing a player of Livakovic’s calibre was exciting, it did appear to be too good to be true. Celtic’s search for a new goalkeeper continues.

Celtic return to training this week with a pre-season tour of America booked in July. It’s imperative the club step up their efforts to land a goalkeeper or we will start the campaign with Scott Bain in goals. While that wouldn’t be fatal, it would be far from ideal.
