Unsettling Armstrong – Agent Coy on New Deal

Many Celtic fans thought Stuart Armstrong signing up for another three or four years was as inevitable as Celtic’s latest title victory but it’s caught many off guard that he’s yet to sign a deal.

Today, Brendan Rodgers spoke briefly about the protracted negotiations and admitted that Stuart’s agent has not been as forthcoming as he’d hoped.

“I believe he wants to stay. His Agent needs to come forward. It’s unsettling for player longer it goes on.”

With the player in the last year of his contract, he could start to talk to clubs as early as January. This would compel Celtic to look at all options on the table before the August transfer deadline.

With many English Premier League sides interested in taking the galvanised midfielder down south. This is what’s thought to be prompting his agent to be coy over a new deal with the Scottish Champions.

The longer it drags on the more likely a summer exit will be on the cards. Much like the similar situation that Joe Ledley was in under Neil Lennon, with the club accepting a late bid for the player after negotiations had met an impasse.

We hope the player himself will drive this deal home.
