Marco Tilio is reportedly seeking a loan move away from the club in the upcoming January transfer window.
This development, as reported by Australian outlet Ftbl, comes in light of Tilio’s limited playing opportunities since joining Celtic in July, having made only two substitute appearances, both of which combined to make 27 minutes on the pitch in the SPFL.
Although, he has had some injury struggles since he arrived in Glasgow.
Tilio’s representatives are said to be exploring potential loan opportunities back in the A-League, contacting Sydney FC and Melbourne City.
A loan move could offer Tilio regular playing time, which is crucial for his development and assessment of his long-term goals. Tilio is under contract with Celtic until 2028, so the club sees potential in him for the future. Therefore, a temporary move away doesn’t necessarily spell the end of his career at Celtic.
For Tilio to succeed at Celtic, a loan to another Scottish Premiership club or a European team might be more advantageous than returning to the A-League. Such a move would allow him to adapt to the style and intensity of football in Scotland or Europe, which would be beneficial for his long-term development and integration into Celtic’s style of play.
It would have made sense to stay near the SPFL, with Brendan Rodgers claiming he was struggling to settle into the league and its demands.
