’Unhappy and Impossible’ – Former Celtic Hero Lifts Lid on Transfer Hell

Former Celtic hero Emilio Izaguirre has lifted the lid on why he left Al-Fayha only eleven months after joining the Saudi club from Celtic.

The former Celtic defender blamed the culture shock as a major part of why he and his family had to go.

“I was at Celtic for over seven years and we were very used to the culture in Scotland.

“So to move to Saudi Arabia which is a totally new way of life made it impossible for me and my family.

“For example, my wife wasn’t allowed to drive in Saudi and the language was impossible to learn.

“You can only perform as a player if your family is happy and they weren’t.”
