Celtic are awaiting final confirmation from Aston Villa regarding the number of away fans permitted for their upcoming Champions League tie in January.

The allocation has been subject to uncertainty, with numbers fluctuating amid ongoing discussions involving West Midlands Police and both clubs.
Villa Park, with a capacity of 42,000, typically accommodates nearly 3,000 away fans in the away section. Initially, Aston Villa indicated that Celtic would receive an allocation of approximately 2,500 tickets. However, this was later revised down to 2,100 — the minimum number required to meet UEFA regulations, Celtic’s SLO has said. According to UEFA’s rules, home clubs must allocate at least 5% of the stadium’s capacity to away supporters.
The situation has become more complicated with West Midlands Police now involved in determining the final figure. Concerns around safety, crowd management, and logistics appear to be driving the discussion, and there is a possibility the allocation could be reduced further.
Celtic are actively engaging with Villa officials and the local authorities, but as it stands, they are waiting for an official update on the confirmed number of tickets.
This uncertainty leaves many travelling Celtic supporters in limbo as they await confirmation of their allocation and make plans for the trip to Birmingham.
Given the potential high stakes of the Champions League encounter and the Hoops’ passionate away following, the demand for tickets is expected to far exceed supply, particularly if the allocation is reduced below the initially suggested 2,100 tickets.
