SCOTLAND have QUALIFIED. for their first major tournament in 22 years after a nail-biting penalty shootout in Serbia.
Scotland took a second half lead through Ryan Christie and thoroughly deserved their lead, they bossed lots of the second half and should have been two or three up. Then the hammer blow of a late, late goal for Serbia took it to extra time.
Steve Clarke made subs just before the equaliser to shore up the game and took Scotland’s sting away from them.
Extra time was a slog but they managed to get to the penalty shoot out and just before the final whistle, Leigh Griffiths was brought on for his first Scotland appearance in two years.
His first act was to hit the ball into the back of the net for Scotland’s first penalty, Callum McGregor followed and from there Scotland did not miss a penalty before Celtic youth product, David Marshall saved the fifth Serbian penalty.
