BAYER LEVERKUSEN have had to change their plans for getting to Glasgow because of the current state of the Ibrox pitch.
According to RecordSport, UEFA have had to make a change to the rules over opposition teams training on the home club’s pitch. Usually, the away side gets to use the pitch the night before the game but Bayer will not be allowed to for fear of it cutting up too much.
A rather embarrassing situation.
The Record claim the pitch is in a horrible way after a ‘brutal winter’ but in essence, they have not bothered to put the right plan in place to keep their pitch up to code.
This is a big concern for Celtic who have the unfortunate task of playing on the swamp this Sunday. We’ve had to play on a number of less than ideal surfaces in the last month, it’s no coincidence once we got back to Celtic Park we were able to smash five past a team playing football.
We can’t use the pitch as an excuse, but we must work around it in order to get the result.
Check the below picture of the Ibrox pitch in its current state, there’s still a game to be played on it and the forecast is set for more rain before and on Sunday.

Compare and contrast Celtic’s pitch from the weekend.
Was there only a brutal winter in Govan?
