UEFA Make European Football Decision – ‘Descendant phase’ Plan

UEFA have made two key decisions today already with regards to the Euros as well as the Champions and Europa League.

The Euros will now take place in 2021 and will not go ahead this summer.

The news about the Champions and Europa League is much more open ended.

RecordSport confirmed:

“UEFA President Alexander Ceferin and secretary general Theodore Theodoridis have announced that the Europa League and Champions League have been suspended until the COVID-19 pandemic is in a “descendant phase”.

This means there will be no European football until the governments in each country decide the virus has peaked.

The big decision about domestic seasons and how they proceed from here is a much bigger issue and we’re waiting on direction from UEFA which is likely to be delivered by the SFA.

Current league positions are under the microscope and what should be done to bring the season across Europe to a conclusion.

Celtic are waiting on direction and the support at desperate to find out what can be done. The uncertainty surrounding many of the things we all take for granted is anxiety inducing.

Sport takes a back seat to other more serious problems of course but there are so many livelihoods attached to the game, it’s understandable people want answers.
