Two Months On: Celtic Fans Deserve Better

Regular readers of the site will know we’ve been banging on about a rebuild for some time now. You would be forgiven for asking ‘what rebuild?’ given the current state of play at Celtic.

Two months after Neil Lennon’s exit we’re still not confident of what the path forward looks like.

There are three months until the next competitive Celtic game and we’re yet to install or announce a manager.

People have been clinging to the hope Celtic know what they’re doing and the man who is going to be in charge next season already knows this and is making plans. Is that just wishful thinking?

Is it red tape that’s stopping a potential announcement?

The problem is the media men who have their Celtic sources and regularly use them touted Eddie Howe to Celtic three weeks ago as pretty much a done deal. Since then, there’s been backtracking from the manager’s agent and the media has fallen silent.

Celtic fans left to debate among themselves what’s going on.

Yes, we want the right man for the job, but what club takes over two months to find a new manager?

Will this make sense when the announcement is finally made?

Is it someone who’s in a job? Is it because Howe might still be contracted to Bournemouth in some way? Or is it because they’ve struggled to reach a consensus among the decision-makers.

After a season where we backed the club with our money and got very little in return, it’s time to be transparent.

Dominic McKay has to bring a better fan engagement philosophy to the role. It won’t happen overnight but the Hoops support deserve better.
