Celtic are on the brink of a significant transfer coup, with reports suggesting that the club is close to finalising a £4 million deal for Polish defender Maik Nawrocki.

The Hoops have reportedly fought off competition from Turkish giants Galatasaray to secure the services of the Legia Warsaw centre-back.
According to Football Scotland, the deal includes a sizeable 15% sell-on clause and will be paid in two instalments – £2 million upfront and another £2 million next year.
Celtic’s new manager, Brendan Rodgers, sees Nawrocki as a player who can challenge for a starting place.
Celtic’s backline has been a big concern for fans in pre-season.
With Carter-Vickers recovering from injury and Yuki Kobayashi’s recent ankle injury during the match against Yokohama F. Marinos, Celtic’s defensive options have been limited. Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales, the current alternates to Carl Starfelt, have not quite lived up to expectations, making the addition of Nawrocki even more crucial.
Nawrocki, a 22-year-old former Werder Bremen youngster, has been a mainstay in Legia Warsaw’s defence, playing 31 games last season, with 25 of those coming in the league. His potential addition to the Hoops’ squad could provide the much-needed stability at the back.
