TV Switch Causes Celtic Travel Woes

Celtic will kick-off their league season against Jim Goodwin’s Aberdeen this Sunday at 16.30 with supporters expected to face travel disruption with there being no ScotRail services from Dalmarnock station after the match.

If fans usually use the service, they are being encouraged to plan alternative transport options to get home.

This disruption comes with the backdrop of shifting the Scottish champions game to a Sunday to accommodate television.

It’s tradition that the league winners of the previous season should begin the new season with the flag being raised high but yet this was thought to be a good idea.

As ScotRail have began to move back to a more functional timetable it appears that the train finishing early is the norm for this service on a Sunday with the same service in place the following week.

Therefore, another disruptive factor which hasn’t been considered by the SPFL or Sky Sports when rescheduling matches.

Public transport from Parkhead isn’t great at the best of times and even worse when buses are running a Sunday service.

Those living locally will not be the only ones effected with those who make the long journey from across the Irish sea likely to arrive home in the early hours of Monday morning with the only available ferry being the 23.00 which arrives in Belfast at 01.45.

For anyone who prefers to hop on the train, the service from Bellgrove station which is a bit of a walk from Celtic Park appears to be running regularly with a train every 15 minutes to half an hour.
