Some Celtic supporters are feeling frustrated as the club brings in a striker who hasn’t yet proven himself at the top level. Brendan Rodgers has also hinted that another goal scorer could still arrive before the window shuts. The need for a reliable presence up front hasn’t gone away.
Even so, former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan believes a lot of fans still back the club’s recruitment approach. Celtic’s record in the Japanese market, with players like Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate making big impacts, gives reason for supporters to stay hopeful.

Allan says that while there is some concern, many fans still have “trust” in the process. He highlights that Yamada is still settling this season, but his previous form shows he has the ability to make a real impact in Glasgow.
Given how well the Japanese signings have done for Celtic, it’s not hard to see why there’s confidence in the approach. The focus now turns to Shunsuke Yamada and whether he can deliver goals when it matters most.
He said: (Clyde 1 Superscoreboard), “I think it’s a position where a lot of Celtic fans want to see someone come in.
“There was a lot of talk when Kyogo left. In terms of Yamada, this season, he has two goals in 20 games, but in the previous season, he got 19 goals. It will be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers fits him into this Celtic side.
“Will he be one who is going to affect the game from the bench or one who Rodgers thinks can lead the line?
“It is a market (the Japan league) that Celtic have used to their advantage. Some of the players, Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate. They have all been fantastic.
“I think it’s something we spoke about last season, in the trust, the Celtic fans put into the recruitment team, you would like to think, he is going to come in and be a player who is going to make a real difference in Scotland.”
