Travelling Journalist Attempts to Quiz Ange on Celtic Ticket Prices

ANGE POSTECOGLOU was asked about ticket pricing for the away end of Tuesday night’s Champions League tie by a travelling journalist. General sale price tickets for both home and away fans stand at a whopping £60.

A journalist decided to put that question to the Celtic manager, despite Ange having absolutely nothing to do with who gets charged what.

The question was surrounding the cost of living crisis and charging Ukrainians who have been displaced by war such a large amount to watch the game.

Ange respected the question and the detail behind it, but believed the journalist was trying to be mischievous in grabbing a headline by either getting Ange to go against the club, or try to justify the price in question.

The journalist would have been able to ask the head of communications of Celtic at the same press conference before or after it had taken place, something we believe did take place. Having went along to these conferences in the past, the head of comms at Celtic ALWAYS accompanies Ange and has more information about inner workings of the club than the manager.

We believe £60 is too much for any fan to pay and the Celtic support have been canvassing for years for the club to take into account the circumstances of the fanbase.

The journalist in question was given details on the initiative Celtic were set to announce later that afternoon. The club had issued CeltsAreHere and the wider public with with a press release that stated they would be inviting Ukrainian children who had been displaced by the war to be mascots for both sets of teams. The Hoops also confirmed they would be giving out ‘several hundred’ tickets to those who are currently settling in Glasgow. A fantastic gesture from the Hoops.

The club have also donated £10k to the Scottish Refugee Council to assist their work with Ukrainian refugees in Scotland. The Celtic foundation is also in the midst of starting up project, beginning this coming week, where they will be working with Ukrainian families and children offering support for mental health, physical wellbeing and social integration, all to be delivered within Celtic Park.

The foundation continues to do great work for all communities within Glasgow. The club is certainly doing their bit in that regard. Can Celtic be doing more to make football more inclusive and affordable? Absolutely. Was it fair to put a question to the manager of the football club? Not really.

The game between Celtic and Shakhtar takes place at 8pm on Tuesday evening. It presents Ange and the bhoys with an opportunity to get their first win of the group stages.
