Luis Palma’s time at Celtic appears to be nearing an end, with reports suggesting the winger could be set for a move to La Liga. The Honduran international, who has struggled for game time this season, was brought on for a brief cameo during Celtic’s recent win over Dundee United. However, his future in Glasgow remains in doubt as interest from Spain grows.
According to Spanish outlet ESTADIO Deportivo, Rayo Vallecano have reached an agreement with Palma on personal terms. The Madrid-based club are reportedly looking to secure a loan deal with an option to buy for €2.5 million (£2.1 million).
Celtic Open to Exit
Palma, who signed for Celtic from Aris Thessaloniki in the summer of 2023, has found it difficult to cement his place in Brendan Rodgers’ side. Despite flashes of potential, the 24-year-old has made just seven league appearances, along with two in domestic cup competitions and one in the Champions League this season.

Rayo Vallecano are said to be keen on strengthening their squad following the departure of James Rodríguez and view Palma as a key target. While an agreement with the player is reportedly in place, the Spanish club are still negotiating with Celtic to finalise the terms of the deal.
Palma’s contract at Celtic runs until 2028, but it’s believed the Hoops are willing to sanction a move should the terms be right. The coming weeks will be crucial as both clubs look to conclude the transfer before the January window shuts.
Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on developments, with Palma’s potential departure marking a swift end to a Celtic spell that never fully got going.
