Celtic have taken a significant step forward in their bid to land Benji Nygren, it’s understood, in what marks a breakthrough for the club.
Journalist Mark Hendry broke the story on Celtsarehere, revealing Celtic had lodged an official approach with FC Nordsjælland for permission to speak to the 23‑year‑old Swedish playmaker last week.
Mark now reports that a fee has been agreed between Celtic and Nordsjælland. His sources suggest the deal is valued at approximately €2 million — around £1.7 million.
FINE-TUNING PERSONAL TERMS
With the clubs in agreement, all that remains is for Celtic and Nygren’s representatives to finalise the finer points. A well‑placed insider has confirmed that personal terms are the sole outstanding factor and that only those details need resolving before the transfer can be completed ahead of the new season.

Nygren has shown his versatility throughout his time at Nordsjælland, operating both on the flanks and centrally. Nevertheless, he impressed most as a classic No.10. His ability to create chances, sharp movement between lines, and eye for goal make him a very interesting addition.
The timing of this deal benefits all parties. Nygren had just six months left on his contract, meaning Nordsjælland risked losing him on a free transfer next summer. With those circumstances in mind, a deal before his contract expiry made sense for both the selling club and Celtic.
