Victor Wanyama she’s surprised many by cutting his ties with Spurs overnight and making a move to MLS side Montreal.
There were plenty of Celtic fans who were desperate to see the midfielder make the move back to Celtic in the summer and in January. Celtic never made a move for the player in the winter window even though the rumour mill went into overdrive on deadline day.
The window closed and the Kenyan was still at Spurs. Victor was frozen out of the club for two seasons and was getting next to no game time.
The former Celtic player has appeared to jump at the chance to go get first-team football in the MLS.
Spurs confirmed the deal on their website:
“We have reached agreement with Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact for the transfer of Victor Wanyama.
“The midfielder made 97 appearances for us in all competitions following his move from Southampton in June, 2016, and scored seven times, including the opening goal in our final game at White Hart Lane.
“We wish Victor well for the future.”
At least it will end speculation for another summer when the window reopens.
Victor was a great player for Celtic and it would have been great to see a reunion but it wasn’t to be.
We wish him all the best for the future.
