Top Journalist Urges Celtic to Move for Julien Stephan

Julien Stephan quit Rennes this morning after a poor run of results. The French club sits 9th in the league heading into the final run of fixtures before the summer.

The Frenchman only led his team to an unexpected Champions League qualification last season but it’s been tough going for the manager this term.

Their group stage campaign was a mess, not managing a single win in a group that consisted of Chelsea, Sevilla and Krasnodar.

It’s fair to say, the young French manager has not taken to pandemic football that well and he’s paid the price.

However, top journalist Robin Bairner believes Celtic should be looking into the manager’s status going forward and sound him out about a possible move to Celtic.

It’s not worked out at Rennes but Robin believes Stephan is more capable than others of becoming Celtic manager and doing a top job.

It would be a left-field appointment considering it’s a manager who would not be on Dermot Desmond’s radar. It would have a Ronny Deila appointment feeling about it but perhaps the club are looking for a top coach with some good ideas who will be flanked by a savvy director of football. Had Deila had a director of football, could he have been more successful?
