TuttoMercato has claimed Celtic are just €1m away from landing one of their summer defensive targets – Mario Vuskovic.
A bid from Celtic of around €5m was reported by Nicolò Schira last week, the journalist claiming the Hoops made a big-money move for the Croatian centre-back.
The deal was reportedly rejected by Hadjuk Split but Mercato have made it clear that’s very close to the club’s valuation of the defender.
#HajdukSplit have rejected an official bid of €5M from #Celtic for the croatian centre back Mario #Vuskovic (born in 2001). #Torino are also interested in him and #Napoli have asked info last January. #transfers

The 19-year-old fits the profile of what Celtic look for in a centre-back and a signing. Someone with bags of potential who could be sold later down the line for major profit.
Vuskovic is locked into a contract with Hadjuk Split until 2024 – so there’s no chance of landing the player on the cheap.
Celtic need reinforcements all over the park this summer and if we’re already chasing targets it would suggest to me the next Celtic manager has already been at work in an unofficial capacity.
As we approach the end of the season, it’s imperative Celtic show their hand and get the rebuild officially underway. Season ticket renewals will enjoy a bounce if they start to make big decisions and showing fans the path forward.
