Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant has revealed the difference between Celtic’s performance against Rangers at Ibrox in the Glasgow derby and the rest of the season, where they had only lost one game going into it.
With Celtic looking so uncharacteristically poor on the ball, the Hoops lost 3-0, with a staggering 9 Rangers shots on target in the game.
When asked by BBC Sportscene host Jonathan Sutherland about what happened to Celtic, Grant said: (BBC Sportscene), “I just think it’s too slow. The team’s been excellent, but today there were too many touches and not quick enough play.
“Brendan touched on it—when you’re not playing well, you notice that you go after the ball and make sure you don’t give the opposition a moment. That didn’t happen today.
“In and out of possession, it was sluggish, and that is the difference.”

With Rangers managing their press well on Celtic in the middle of the park, they were able to break on the Hoops so often, with Reo Hatate losing the ball a number of times and Callum McGregor marked out of the game.
In defence, Liam Scales was also given time on the ball, something the Irish defender struggles with, in what was a clear game plan from Philippe Clement ahead of the game.
It will be an opportunity to learn for Celtic, as a defeat means the chance to improve aspects of the side.
With still plenty of time remaining in the transfer window, it could see the Hoops add even more players to improve from what was a dreadful day at Ibrox for Celtic.
