Tomoki Iwata looks set to complete a surprising deadline-day exit from Celtic.
The Japanese midfielder has been absent from the Hoops’ last two matchday squads, and now looks set to leave the club.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports on X that English League One outfit Birmingham City are close to agreeing a deal to sign the 27-year-old, presumably on loan. It is said that Iwata is currently travelling to England to complete a medical.
In England’s third tier, Iwata will cruise it. He has been a reliable performer for Celtic whenever called upon but at his age, he will want to get regular first-team minutes, something he isn’t guaranteed at Parkhead this season.
With Iwata’s exit now in the works, one assumes the champions will look to bring in another midfielder on top of Arne Engels before this evening’s transfer deadline.
Time is ticking, and the window shuts at 11pm as the club looks to get deals done.
