‘Told me I wasn’t good enough’ – Celtic Star Reveals the Club that Didn’t Want Him
SCOTT BAIN has spoken about coming full circle after the Celtic goalkeeper won the title with Celtic at Pittodrie – a place where the stopper was told he wasn’t good enough once upon a time.
Bain has had a remarkable 22 clean sheets in 26 domestic games this season and is a big part of why Celtic won the league at Pittodrie on Saturday. The player came up with a massive point-blank save in the first half before James Wilson missed the rebound. After that, Celtic took control and the league was won comfortably.
The Celtic goalkeeper is enjoying the rewards of all his hard work over the past two seasons. It was only a year and a half ago the goalkeeper was frozen out at Dundee after a bust-up with Neil McCann and now he’s Celtic and Scotland’s number one.
So in a way, Bain and the Celtic fans have a lot to thank Neil McCann for this term.
Speaking about his rise, Bain was humble but knows how much he’s accomplished over the past year. “It’s amazing. I’ve come full circle.” he told SunSport.
“We beat Aberdeen in the League Cup final and now we have secured the league title at Pittodrie. It is a great feeling. It means a lot.
“I managed to win the title at Pittodrie against the team that let me go as a young lad — and told me I wasn’t good enough to play for them.
“It’s a fantastic feeling. It shows a lot of young lads they shouldn’t listen to people, they should just listen to themselves.
“If they are willing to do the dirty work, do the hard work, they can come up trumps.
“It is great to make big saves for a big club and feel appreciated. I will savour the moment. You can’t really say one person is responsible. Everyone has been involved and played their part in helping me get here.”
