TIMO WEAH has spoken of his time at Celtic as he starts afresh in France with his new side Lille. Weah signed a five-year deal with the French club and cost €10m according to Goal.com
The American dropped in for a brief four month period with Celtic where he started off well but fell out of the team and ultimately left early due to a World Cup call up.
The attacker was brought to Celtic by Brendan Rodgers who initially used Timo as part of his front three but when the Irishman left to go to Leicester, Neil Lennon came in and he was used sparingly.
Asked if he had got anything out of his time at Celtic, the USA international admitted it helped him grow up and gave him confidence.
“It’s a very physical league. I got some confidence, I became more mature. It was good for me to play there. I scored some goals and that’s prepared me well for coming here.” He told Journalist Robin Bairner.
With Neil Lennon and Timo Weah clearly not seeing eye to eye there was never any chance of the player coming back to Celtic Park. His move to Lille sees the player start afresh and he has been positive about his time in Scotland which is great to hear.
