Didier Drogba

Matin O’Neill was always one for looking out top talent, having already secured a top lineup of stars the Irishman looked to a young Didier Drogba as the evolution to his side. There was genuine talk of the player coming but in the end, nothing came of it and he eventually went onto be a legend at Chelsea. We got some insight into why the deal never happened when Momo Sylla spoke a couple of years back about how he put Didier off a move because he wouldn’t get into the team.

To be fair we did have Henrik Larsson, Chris Sutton and John Hartson as our strikers.
