On Thursday night, several Celtic stars such as Cameron Carter Vickers and Jota were handed a surprising night off, being named amongst the subs as the Hoops suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the hands of Bodo/Glimt.
Many fans were left a little surprised by the team selection, but it ultimately meant that a number of these players didn’t see any action during the freezing conditions over in Scandinavia.
After being rested, several of those players are expected to come back into the side that will face Hibernian at Easter Road tomorrow afternoon, and Ange Postecoglou has insisted they must be ready for the difficult task that lies ahead in the capital.
As quoted by the Daily Record, influential figures should be fresh and ready to go, and the boss said: “They have to be because it is going to be a difficult game.
“The guys who didn’t play or start against Bodo/Glimt are going to have to make sure they are ready for it.”
Although Postecoglou might not believe this is the case, some supporters took this as a sign to say that Sunday’s game was the priority for this week, with several first-team regulars given the night off, bar Callum McGregor and Liel Abada, who made second-half appearances.
After suffering a frustrating loss midweek, the Hoops now must win on Sunday to keep their pressure up at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and hopefully, the fresh legs can prove to be an advantage.
It will be interesting to see the starting line-up Postecoglou chooses to go with, come 10:45 tomorrow morning. But it would be a surprise to see many first-team regulars left out, with it largely expected that the 56-year old will go strong with his side.
