BRENDAN RODGERS opened up in an exclusive interview with the Mail on Sunday about life, Liverpool and Celtic.
The Celtic manager spoke fo losing his parents in quick succession, becoming Liverpool boss and what he achieved and of course, managing the club he supported as a bhoy -Glasgow Celtic.
‘I came here (to Celtic) because I was asked by the major shareholder, Dermot Desmond, to be the architect of the club. I don’t have to control absolutely everything because it is very difficult to do that now in the modern game. I don’t need that.
‘But I just want to work with good people that have one vision for the team and the club and that is what I have here. I’m not in any rush to come away from that.’
The Celtic manager knows everyone has a shelf life and that in the future there may be nothing else he and the club can do together.
‘There will be a time at Celtic where I’ve done everything I possibly can here,’ he says.
‘And between the club and I, we will look at it and see where we’re at. I have to do the best with the resources we have here. That’s not a lack of ambition. That’s me at a club where I have a sense of happiness every day.’
Reading between the lines, I say the Celtic boss wants a front row seat for ten in a row – after that, who knows.
