It is no secret that Celtic have a more than depthful squad. Indeed, there are several players that manager Brendan Rodgers would be content with losing this month.
Last week, the likes of Mackenzie Carse, Adam Montgomery, and Kwon Hyeok-kyu all completed loan moves away from the club to teams within Scotland. On Saturday, there was another loan exit that flew somewhat under the radar.
On their official X account, Celtic didn’t post any message of good luck or communication about the departure of Johnny Kenny after the Irish striker renewed his loan at Shamrock Rovers for the 2024 season on Saturday.

Having spent 2023 with the side and helping them to win the Irish top-flight title, Rovers were eager to keep Kenny. Last year, he made 37 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring six goals and assisting four.
He got consistent minutes under his belt and in the forthcoming Irish season, this is something Kenny and Celtic will be keen for to happen once more.
Still just 20 years of age, the Ireland under-21 internationalist is contracted in Glasgow until 2026. At the minute, it doesn’t seem as though he has a long-term future at the club but one can never be certain of loanees amid what happened with the likes of Ryan Christie and Liam Scales previously.
