The Understated Element of Celtic’s Ross County Win

Celtic’s clinical finish in the first half against Ross County was a sight to behold in an incredible 5-0 win.

However, it is indeed the number of goals that will make all the difference in the Scottish Premiership title race.

After 5 goals this afternoon, it means that Celtic’s goal difference now stands at +36, incredibly 23 ahead of second-placed Aberdeen, who trail by five points with a game in hand.

With the points difference enough to cause concern, the goal differential makes it all the more sore for those placed second and third in the table.

With Celtic facing Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Wednesday, the Hoops will look to not only increase the points difference between the sides but, even more interestingly, the goal difference.

The Rangers currently trail Celtic by 14 points with a game in hand, while their goal difference of 8 is 28 behind Celtic, in a sign that one side of the Glasgow derby is cruising and the other is in crisis.

Celtic’s goalscoring is as broad and as consistent as anyone can remember in recent memory, with no one player scoring all the goals.

They are instead spread throughout the team, and even at times on the bench.

With the task of stopping the Hoops scoring nigh on impossible, opposition sides don’t know who to stop, because everyone, with the exception of Kasper Schmeichel, who may even change that this season, is contributing goals.
