Celtic have made contact with Augsburg which could lead them to sign Belgian midfielder Arne Engels.

However, the deal faces complications, Football Scotland reports.
The 20-year-old’s potential transfer is priced at around £10 million, but Celtic’s ability to finance the move hinges on the departure of Matt O’Riley, who has been the subject of multiple bids from Atalanta. Celtic has rejected five offers, holding out for at least £25 million.
Further complicating the potential signing of Engels is the situation at Augsburg. The Bundesliga club may also lose playmaker Ruben Vargas this transfer window, making them hesitant to part with two key midfielders, and fair enough. Celtic wouldn’t let Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate both leave this window.
Engels’ arrival at Celtic depends on these two significant factors: O’Riley’s departure and Augsburg’s squad situation as the transfer deadline approaches.
Matt O’Riley will likely leave, but Celtic need Atalanata to move things along and cough up their asking price so that Celtic can get the ball rolling with Arne Engels.
