The Tweet That Changed the Course of Celtic History

It may have seemed insignificant to all of us at the time, but this tweet from the Celtic’s official Twitter would prove to be momentous.

Without knowing it, we were seeing a passing of the guard and the birth of a new Celtic hero.

It was a Wednesday night in Dundee when young Kieran Tierney took the place of Emilio Izaguirre with ten minutes to go.

That night Celtic ran out 2-1 winners, thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Gary Mackay-Steven. Once Kieran came on, the team conceded a late goal in the 87th minute but they hung on for the win.

Ronny Deila saw something in Kieran Tierney and would start to play the youngster more often as he would slowly phase Emilio out of the side altogether.

We are now two and half years on from his debut and the bhoy has never looked back! Kieran has just signed a new SIX-year deal and is on course to be the future captain of the club.
