The Summer Celtic Exit That’s Yet to Make Sense

We all said our goodbyes to Tom Rogic in the middle of May, a year earlier than expected when the club and Tom decided to part ways.

The Australian has been an incredible servant to the club and when it was announced he would be leaving there was an outpouring of gratitude from the Celtic support.

Tom’s contract wasn’t due up until next year, but after extensive talks with the manager and mulling over his own future, Tom believed it was time to look for another challenge and Celtic granted the player his wish.

It’s not as if the Socceroos star was at the end of the road at Celtic, he was still contributing the squad in a meaningful way.

Tom told CeltsAreHere on the final day of last season he didn’t have a new destination lined up. However, we took that with a pinch of salt.

Celtic are due back for pre-season training this week and it’s a very big surprise to me the midfielder hasn’t signed for a new club.

The decision to leave Celtic and Glasgow after ten years wouldn’t have been an easy decision to make for Tom. It’s strange the player didn’t have anything in the pipeline.

We can only hope Tom gets a move he wants and that he’s playing at a good enough level this season to secure his Socceroo status for the World Cup.

Right now, Rogic’s Celtic exit feels almost needless.
