Celtic will get to finish their Scottish Cup campaign from last season during next season but the opportunity to do so comes at a cost.
The fixture schedule is so tight next season to accommodate FIFA and UEFA dates along with the start of Euro 2021 next year – there’s no room for a break. Celtic’s usual winter break getaway to Dubai which has served the Hoops well over the piece will not be there. The winter break is gone and the games will come thick and fast.
The Scottish Cup games will be welcome at the time but if Celtic do get to the final, that’s two games which will have to be postponed in the league. Meaning any rivals can rack up the points with Celtic playing catch up going into the new year.
The League Cup cannot be a priority next season and I’d be astonished if Neil Lennon fields full-strength teams for those fixtures. The league has to be the priority and landing a quadtreble would certainly be worth fighting for as long as it’s not to the detriment of our league season.
Celtic can’t afford to many slip-ups in the league early on as they look to fight on five fronts. Two Scottish Cups, One League Cup, SPFL and Europe.
It’s no ordinary season we’re about to enter and the bhoys must be prepared.
