‘The past is nice, but It’s a new challenge’ – CCV Eyes Glasgow Derby Cup Final Success

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has previewed Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final against the Rangers at Hampden.

Carter-Vickers, who has enjoyed some incredible success over the years against Philippe Clement’s side with many fond memories, however, revealed that this does not affect how he treats the opposition.

He said: (The Celtic Way), “That’s the way we operate. As soon as the game finishes, our mindset is the next one. They come thick and fast at this stage of the season, so we know every three or four days we have to perform.

“It’s always good to play at Hampden at the atmosphere is always good. As a team, we have quite a few positive memories there, so we are definitely looking forward to it.

“I think every game there is unique and you have to perform on the day to get the result you want and we know that.

“Whatever has happened in the past is nice, it definitely helps you go into it with a positive mindset, but when the whistle sounds, it’s a new game and a new challenge. We have got to be up for it.”

CCV is the model professional; he is a winner through and through, and that’s why he fits in the Celtic dressing room so perfectly since joining the club in 2021.

Past success means nothing going into any Glasgow derby; it’s what you do on the day that counts, and he is clearly aware of this.

Being overconfident or getting ahead of himself by looking back on past success won’t help in any way.

However, for the opposition, they will be more than aware just how much he thrives in the Glasgow derby.

As soon as the whistle blew to end the game against Dinamo Zagreb last night, there was only one thought on his mind: getting back to training to best prepare for Rangers on Sunday

With CCV forming a formidable partnership alongside Austin Trusty, the Celtic defence made in the USA has looked a step up from last season’s league and cup double winners.
