The One Player Neil Lennon Needs to Stop Pushing

NEIL LENNON has come in and had his favourites since February. The Celtic manager has wielded the axe on some of the lads who were untouchable under Brendan Rodgers – brought in his own players but also used some of Rodgers fringe men.

One of these lads is Jonny Hayes. Now before anyone gets on their high horse, I’m by no means picking on Jonny or blaming him for any particular result. The Irishman is a good hard working professional and he will give you his best when he is on the field.

However, his goal at Ibrox as gave Neil Lennon the impression he can come on and change a game when our back are against the wall. Jonny is a good player but from a technical standpoint he lags behind most of the Celtic team. For the record, I was delighted when he bagged a goal at Ibrox and thought he deserved a moment like that in a Celtic shirt.

Coming on against Hibs and Livingston the player has been ineffective with Neil Lennon trying to inject pace into the team. It’s hard to let him loose when there’re 10 men behind the ball for the last two minutes stifling any sort of runs down the flank.

When we’re in need of a little bit of magic – as much I’d want Jonny to be the guy who comes on and does it for us, I just don’t see it. There are players not getting onto the bench right now because Neil wants Jonny in his squad constantly, something he might want to asses.
