I was perplexed to see Dermot Desmond come out and discuss the errors of last season out of nowhere on Friday.
There was a time when Celtic fans wanted to hear from their majority shareholder and explain some of the major decisions Tharen in the ill-fated lockdown season during our ten in a row attempt.
The Irishman finally came out to discuss things when everyone had move on. It was a strange move from a man who doesn’t really take part in media interviews.

Desmond was interviewed by Gerry McCulloch and it was very much a contrived interview where it felt like Dermot knew all the questions coming at him. In that respect, it’s why we didn’t learn much new from the interview.
Yes, Dermot confirmed a few things that went on last season that we reported on at the time but there was nothing earth shattering.
Because it was a controlled, in-house interview, the one major thing I’d have loved to have some sort of detail on was the man who has been erased from Celtic’s history – Dom McKay.
This time last year, Dom had quit his Scottish Rugby gig early to join up at Celtic and shadow Peter Lawwell. Dom was tasked with taking celtic into the era post-Lawwell and started to put things in place.

When he took over the role on a permanent basis, Dom was quickly dropped by Celtic during his three month probation. McKay’ shocking exit at the time was said to be down to personal reasons. We can confirm there were no personal reasons for Don’s departure, but it was much more to do with his vision for Celtic and the boards being wildly off.
It’s not something that’s occupied my head space too much since after the initial exit but seeing as Dermot came out and dredged up the past, I’m curious as to why we didn’t get any sort of explanation for the whole sorry episode.
Why has Dom’s name been wiped from history? At the Celtic AGM late in 2021, there was zero mention of him either or about his departure.
The curiosity in me would love to know why Celtic have taken this route.
