WHAT. A. NIGHT.
From the stands to the touchline to the men on the pitch, EVERYONE played their part last night in the methodical taking apart on FC Astana who crumbled under the wall of noise around Celtic Park.
The tone was set from the get-go when the returning green brigade unfurled, perhaps, my favourite ever banner they’ve done with a Conor McGregor tribute with the words ‘We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over’ and how fitting was that!

Celtic didn’t come out all guns blazing like many would’ve wanted them to, they felt their way into the game – patiently waiting for the opening that would unlock a resolute Astana side.
Inevitably, Tom Rogic took it upon himself to drive at opposition defence and fired a shot across goal that was helped in by Postnikov. It went down as an own goal, but we’re still giving it to big Tam!
After that, Celtic never looked back. A double from Sinclair each side of half time, a neat Forrest finish and a cheeky deflected Griffiths shot completed a rout that will live long in the memory.
Celtic fans like myself will tell you; we don’t tend to do big scorelines in Champions League qualifiers and make it as nervy as possible at times. What we saw last night was the culmination of a year’s hard work exploding onto the Euro stage.
Celtic now go to Astana virtually guaranteed to be in the pot next week for the Champions League group stage – it’s a slightly unnerving feeling.
May I add, this was all done without Moussa Dembele and a centre midfielder playing in the heart of the defence. It really is quite extraordinary.
