The Luis Palma Celtic Situation

The President of the Honduran Football Association, Jorge Salomón, has addressed Luis Palma’s current situation at Celtic, suggesting that the winger might need to find more regular playing time, whether at the Scottish champions or elsewhere.

Speaking to Diario La Prensa as cited by RecordSport, Salomón highlighted Palma’s commitment and professionalism, saying:

“We hope that players like Palma can be lucky enough to be given more continuity either at Celtic or another team. He is a very polite, very dedicated boy, he loves the national team, he takes care of himself personally, he is well involved in this matter.

“I hope he has the good fortune that the club he plays for can give him more playing time, which will be important for him and the growth of the national team. As well as others.”

Limited Opportunities at Celtic

Despite showing flashes of promise early in his Celtic career, Palma has struggled for consistent game time this term. The 24-year-old has been left out of the squad entirely for the last three domestic fixtures and was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

His inclusion on the bench for that match likely came down to the larger number of substitutes allowed in European competitions compared to the Scottish Premiership. With Celtic’s squad now looking more settled under Brendan Rodgers, Palma has found himself on the fringes.

A January Move on the Cards?

After a bright start at Celtic, including some eye-catching performances during Rodgers’ early adjustments in his return to the club, Palma’s form tailed off. As Celtic continue to refine their squad, the Honduran appears to be surplus to requirements.

Palma may seek a move during the January transfer window, either on loan or permanently, in search of regular minutes. With Salomón stressing the importance of playing time for Palma’s development and contributions to the Honduran national team, both the player and Celtic may look to agree on a solution sooner rather than later.
