The Karamoko Dembele Scenario

Neil Lennon has a deep squad, the Celtic manager could make four or five changes for a game and not many would bat an eyelid with the talent we have at our disposal.

What’s even more pleasing is the talent slowly bubbling underneath the first team.

We have a lot of young players who are looking to make an impact sooner rather than later. We’ve seen glimpses of some of the talent with first team cameos this term.

Karamoko Dembele is a prime example of someone who is ready to take the leap from reserve side to first team. Given his talent, the midfielder has been around the first team for some time. Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon have both gave the youngster first team training time. Neil Lennon handed the winger his debut last season on trophy day against Hearts.

Asked by the Celtic View if we’re likely to see some of the youngsters get more first team time before the end of the season, Neil Lennon said:

“We’ll see how the games go.

“We still have a bit of football to go, even before the split.

“It’s always good to introduce the young lads to the first-team environment.

“Karamoko and Stephen Welsh have been training with us so that experience will stand them in good stead.”

If Celtic can wrap up the title with time to spare, it would present Neil Lennon with the perfect scenario to field some more of the players worthy of some game time.

Karamoko would be top of the list.
