It was back in early October when MailSport were reporting Manchester Utd were looking to make a serious play for one of Celtic’s most senior backroom staffers in head physio Tim Williamson.
The physio has had his ups and downs at Celtic over the years and has even left the club for the Premier League before with Tim spending time at Spurs.
Ronny Deila demoted Williamson when he came into the role in favour of his own people but the physio was brought back to prominence by Brendan Rodgers.
Tim and Neil Lennon have a great rapport throughout their years at Celtic. It was during Neil Lennon’s first time as manager that Tim was brought back to Celtic from down south.
With the murmuring in October, as we head into December, there’s still talk of Manchester Utd looking to snatch the physio.
Reputable Sports site Goal.com report that the club is looking to restructure the physio team and have headhunted Tim as a possible person to run the new regime down south.
Some Celtic supporters might not think this is a big deal but Tim comes into contact with the players on a daily basis and will have a great understanding of what they need to continue to deliver on the field. Managing injuries and expectations, his relationship with Neil Lennon also great when there’s trust between the manager and his head physio.
Hopefully these reasons will make it hard for Tim to leave for another stint down south.
