Celtic Fan Starts Petition After Club Participates in Gambling Competition

The backlash has continued to Celtic’s gambling competition which urges fans to sign up to their online casino sponsor Mr Green and wager £10 on virtual slot machines.

If Celtic fans do this they would be in with a chance of winning one of ten pairs of tickets to the potential title clincher against Kilmarnock later this month.

However, the competition has gone down like a lead balloon as fans slam the club actively trying to get people to play these slot games and part with their cash in the hope of winning Celtic tickets. These 10 deposit casino websites offer players the chance to win not only tickets, but also cash prizes by depositing only 10 pounds, dollars, or euros.

We reported yesterday there was a lot of fans not happy with the competition and urged Celtic to pull it. This could be the straw that broke the camel’s back for many who are so used to seeing gambling sponsors around the club. DafaBet is Celtic’s main shirt sponsor and Mr Green their official ‘Online Casino’ partner.

There has been a massive uproar about this and has brought the use of gambling companies in football back up for debate among Celtic fans. Someone has taken it one step further and created a petition to try and canvas the club to ditch gambling sponsors at the first chance they get.

50 fans have signed the petition so far since it appeared last night.
