‘That’s the difference’ – McFadden Tells Hibs Exactly Why They Didn’t Get Anything at Celtic Park

James McFadden has told Hibernian their missed opportunities at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon prevented them from taking anything from the game.

The visitors created several chances, but Kasper Schmeichel was more than able, putting in a man-of-the-match performance to ensure his side took all three points from the clash.

Hibs registered nine shots on target, and the number of chances they created was a testament to how well they played, although, at the home of the champions, you must be clinical.

Indeed, after missing a few opportunities in the game’s infancy, the Hibees were punished because, in their maiden attack of the game, Celtic opened the scoring through Arne Engels.

McFadden thinks such sharpness in front of goal split the sides: “That’s the difference”, he said (Sky Sports).

“When you get an opportunity, you have to take it because you know that, even if Celtic aren’t at their best, they’ll still create opportunities.

“Hibs had various chances, to go ahead, get themselves level, get themselves back in the game, but they never took them, and you just know that Celtic are going to come strong.”

With Saturday’s victory, Celtic moved nine points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand. The Hoops have dominated domestically this term, scoring 40 league goals and conceding just four. They have also only dropped two points all season.

Brendan Rodgers’ men now turn their attention to European matters, though, and the upcoming trip to face Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

A win in the Croatian capital would be colossal and perfectly kick off a potentially season-defining week for the Bhoys.
