“That Quote Will Go Down in History” – Celtic Star Hails Ange’s Europa League Win

Cameron Carter-Vickers has spoken about his happiness for former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou after he helped Tottenham Hotspur win the UEFA Europa League last night. Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final, securing their first trophy in 17 years.

Postecoglou joined Tottenham in 2023, after two successful years at Celtic. He was the man who brought Carter-Vickers to Glasgow in 2021, signing him from Spurs after a loan spell. The American defender quickly became a key player for Celtic under the Australian coach.

Now watching his former manager succeed in England, Carter-Vickers admitted he watched the match and felt proud of what Ange did with his former side last night, pointing out a line from Postecoglou that now looks quite special.

He said: (Celtic FC), “It was good, I watched the game last night.

“It wasn’t the greatest game from an entertainment standpoint, but it is massive for Tottenham getting a trophy and for Ange as well. He said that he always wins in his second season, and he’s done that, so I’m happy for him.

“When he left here, the players were disappointed, but the majority enjoyed working under him and wanted the best for him. Their Premier League season has not been great, which is something they’ll have to work on going forward, but for them to get over the line in a cup competition is great for them, and it shows what he can do.

“That quote will definitely go down in history!”

Winning the Europa League is also a big step for Ange. He has now won trophies in Australia, Japan, Scotland, and now in one of Europe’s top competitions. It adds to a growing reputation as a coach who knows how to get results and win trophies.

While Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham left a gap at Celtic, his work continues to be felt. Carter-Vickers remains a key part of the Celtic defence and is still benefiting from the confidence and development he made under the Australian boss.

As Spurs celebrate their long-awaited trophy, many at Celtic, including Carter-Vickers, are pleased to see Ange succeed once again.
