Telstar Chief Admits Celtic-Linked Star Set to Go

Celtic are reportedly looking at Moroccan striker Youssef El Kachati as a possible new signing this summer. The forward has impressed in the Netherlands with Telstar, scoring goals and playing well all season. Celtic are planning to bring in new players and El Kachati is one name reportedly on their list.

The 25-year-old has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season. One of those goals came in Telstar’s important play-off win over Den Bosch. His strong form has caught the attention of other clubs too, including Hamburg and Hannover 96.

El Kachati’s contract with Telstar ends in June. That means he will soon be available on a free transfer. For Celtic, this makes him a good option. He can play as a main striker or out wide, giving Brendan Rodgers different choices in attack.

SC Telstar owner Odette Otte admitted in an interview that the club expects to lose top players like El Kachati

He said: (NRC), “After such a good season, and you are mega in the picture as Telstar, I think that good performances have not gone unnoticed,

“As long as we cannot offer the budget of club X, we are just a springboard. We have to embrace that role.

“But the players have to want to jump very high. Otherwise you do not fit in at Telstar.”

El Kachati, who is comfortable operating both centrally and out wide, could be a flexible and low-risk addition for Brendan Rodgers as he prepares to reshape his squad for another tilt at domestic dominance and Champions League progression.

Whether Celtic firm up their interest with an offer remains to be seen, but with the player available for nothing and proven goal-scoring form, it’s easy to see why the Hoops scouts are paying close attention.

It would be a cost-effective option to sign El Kachati, and whether supporters would be happy with that remains to be seen. However, if he does join and quickly scores goals, that will silence any critics.
