Celtic have been looking to strengthen the back-line this summer, with Chris Jullien heading for the Parkhead exit and Stephen Welsh not showing signs of becoming a Champions League quality player.
The Glasgow club were said to have held an interest in Manchester City starlet Taylor Harwood-Bellis. However, he’ll no longer be joining the Scottish champions with the player heading to join former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany at Burnley.
It rules out a move north of the border, but with no reported contact made, it’s hard to judge how serious Celtic’s interest was.
Burnley taking on Vincent Kompany as manager meant Manchester City links would come into play when it came to this deal. The former City defender is idolised at the Etihad and for good reason.
Ange Postecoglou has Entered the Next Stage of the Rebuild.
With the core of the squad moulded into Ange’s preference, the manager is looking to add players to the squad that’ll add quality and depth. Last season, the squad was so thin that Postecoglou couldn’t turn to his bench, but this term Ange will look to utilise his bench to the fullness.
Celtic will still likely bring in a defender this summer, but only if they manage to send Jullien out on loan.
