Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston is set to sign a bumper new contract with the club following a sensational start to the season.
It was reported in September that the Hoops were set to offer Johnston a new deal, and since then, according to RecordSport, negotiations have ‘advanced significantly’.

The player’s representatives are currently in Glasgow for talks to finalise the new deal, which will increase the 26-year-old’s salary and extend his contract beyond 2027. Celtic are confident he will put pen to paper.
Since moving from Montreal at the beginning of 2023, Johnston has been a revelation in Glasgow’s east end.
The Canadian has won five trophies in just under two years with Celtic and moulded into a key figure within the Parkhead dressing room.
Johnston is a respected, senior member of the first-team squad and has worn the armband several times this campaign.
He led the Scottish Premiership champions out against Motherwell a few weekends ago and scored in the comfortable 3-0 victory at Fir Park.
Indeed, Johnston has added an attacking threat to his game this season, registering four goals and as many assists across 16 appearances in all competitions.
Along with the likes of Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda, he has been one of the Hoops’ most reliable performers throughout the campaign so far.
Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic faithful will view the news of his impending new deal as entirely positive.
