Talks Advance as Odsonne Edouard Closes in on Crystal Palace Exit

Former Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard could be on the move this summer, with Ligue 1 side Nice reportedly in advanced discussions with Crystal Palace.

According to Foot Mercato, Nice have “been making inroads” with the Premier League club over the past few days as they look to strike a deal worth around £5.2 million for the 27-year-old. Edouard, who has already turned down an approach from Spanish side Girona, is understood to be keen on the move back to France.

The French striker left Celtic in 2021 to join Palace in a £15m deal, ending a prolific spell in Glasgow where he scored 87 goals in 179 appearances and won multiple domestic honours. However, while his time at Selhurst Park started brightly, with a brace off the bench on his debut, he has struggled for consistency in the Premier League and could now be set for a fresh start.

Edouard has entered the final year of his contract at Palace, and with no new deal agreed, a sale this summer would prevent the London club from losing him for free next year.

He had been loosely linked with a shock Celtic return this summer, but Brendan Rodgers was quick to shut it down. Speaking in pre-season, the manager said: “Odsonne hasn’t been on my radar, to be fair. I obviously know him but it’s about a player who will fit into the structure of the team.”
