Sydney van Hooijdonk Latest

Celtic are back in action this weekend but away from the pitch it appears the club are firming up their January transfer plans in what will be an important window.

A striker looks to be top of the pile when it comes to priority signings. Football Scotland reported earlier on Friday that the club is seriously looking to bring in Danish player Mathias Kvistgaarden.

However, one name that’s been linked with the club in recent times, Sydney van Hooijdonk, doesn’t seem to be in the Scottish Champions January plans.

Football Scotland is reporting that there has been no approach at all for the son of former Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk.

While many fans believe the synergy and the story behind Sydney potentially signing for Celtic, the scouting department obviously are prioritising other deals.

The winter break after the second Glasgow derby of the season allows Celtic to get players in and into training ahead of the restart in late January. In recent years, under Ange Postecoglou we witnessed deals getting done even before the window was officially opened. We need a similar mindset this time around.
