O’Dea, a former Hoops defender and current Professional Player Pathway Manager at the club, is highly regarded within the Celtic structure. He previously managed the B Team and played a key role in the development of the club’s academy talent before stepping into his current role.

Sheehan, who was recently appointed Swansea boss on a permanent basis after a stint as interim manager, is expected to make changes to his coaching staff as he prepares for his first full campaign in charge of the Championship side. It’s understood O’Dea has been a long-term target for Sheehan, with the pair sharing a connection through their playing days and mutual time spent in Scottish football.

Whether Celtic would be willing to let him go remains to be seen. Ange Postecoglou was said to have ‘trusted’ O’Dea when he was at Celtic.

If Sheehan does get his man, it would be a significant step in O’Dea’s coaching career, moving into first-team football in a highly competitive environment. For now, though, he remains an important figure behind the scenes at Celtic, helping bridge the gap between academy prospects and the first team.
