Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan has not ruled out a move for Celtic striker Adam Idah, adding fuel to growing rumours.
Idah’s future at Celtic has been questioned in recent weeks, despite Brendan Rodgers previously stating he’s part of his plans. Swansea are now seen as possible contenders for his signature, with reports of a loan or permanent deal starting to build.
Sheehan has now admitted he knows of Idah and rates him as a good player, though he wouldn’t confirm if a move is in the works. His remarks are unlikely to settle any nerves among Celtic fans still unsure of the striker’s role heading into the weekend.
The 24-year-old only joined Celtic permanently last summer after a loan spell but hasn’t nailed down a regular starting spot under Rodgers. Should Celtic decide to let him go, they would almost certainly need to bring in another forward first.
He said: (Wales Online), “He’s a player I’m aware of, obviously. An Irish international, so I do know him.
“He’s a good player, but I don’t want to comment on anybody that’s not our player.”
Swansea haven’t closed the door on a move, and Sheehan’s refusal to rule it out suggests there could be something going on behind the scenes. It’s unclear if that will turn into a proper bid, but Celtic are unlikely to let Idah go without bringing someone else in first.
Brendan Rodgers has spoken highly of Idah, but the striker hasn’t played much this season, which raises doubts about how big a role he’ll have going forward. With Celtic linked to other forwards, the final days of the window could be key.

For Swansea, Idah fits the bill. He’s played in the Championship and for Ireland, and would add strength up top in their push for promotion. The hard part will be agreeing a deal that suits Celtic and convincing them to part with him.
Right now, the interest is clear and there’s been no denial, but unless Celtic move fast to bring in another striker, it’s hard to see any transfer going through.
