Sutton Reacts to Maloney News

SHAUN MALONEY is set to become the new Hibs manager after Jack Ross was sacked after a poor run of form. Maloney will be watching the Edinburgh side keenly tomorrow looking at what improvements he can make to the squad with David Gray on the touchline for this match.

Maloney, who has been assistant to Roberto Martinez in Belgium, will be an interesting appointment and will have many onlookers to see how he performs. He is certainly intelligent and knows the game well but can he adapt to help 7th place Hibs find form.

Chris Sutton has said despite not being a predominant character in the dressing room his experience is brilliant at the top level and he will use this to his advantage. Writing in the Daily Record he said;

Hibs, of course, will have their feelings on that and I’ll be most interested in how their players respond to the appointment of Shaun Maloney.

My old teammate was a quiet boy in the dressing room, but he’s as bright as a button and he’ll have gathered so much information working with Belgium.

Maloney will certainly command respect but it will be interesting to see his style of management and how he handles the media.

Celtic fans were impressed with the former hoops midfielder when he was a pundit on Sky Sports for Celtic’s trip to Tannadice, his analysis was far superior to those in his company.
